Being active has played a large role in my life. After completing my degree in Recreation Sport Studies, I developed a passion for community health and wellness. I strive to help individuals find an activity they enjoy doing. I followed my passion of health and wellness and have become a Certified NB Teacher, specializing in Physical Education and Elementary Education. I have participated in group fitness classes as a UNB student and I am excited by the opportunity to be an instructor. My goal as a group fitness instructor is to help individuals reach their fitness goals by creating a space where we push ourselves, get sweaty, and have fun doing it.
Fitness has always been an essential part of my life. My healthy lifestyle started from a young age, from attending aerobics classes with my mother, to growing up active through various sports, recreation and fitness activities. As an adult, indoor cycling and yoga became part of my weekly routine, complementing regular weightlight and conditioning. Friends had always encouraged me to share these experiences, and eventually, I followed their advice and started navigating my way through teacher trainings. Whether its riding to the beat of the music or rolling your mat, my goal is for students to leave class feeling better when they arrived and with a smile.
Carolyn began her movement practice at the very young age of 4 years old. She was heavily involved in gymnastics, cheerleading, soccer, and volleyball. This all eventually lead her to her very first yoga practice in 2008. From the very first time, she practiced she fell in love with the attention and care taken in each lesson. She had the experience of feeling at home within her own body and her desire is for her students to feel the same way.
I fell in love with Group Fitness as a participant in 2015 and became an instructor in 2018. I've been teaching Group Fitness in Ontario for the past few years and am excited to join the Fredericton and REDS Rec community. I love to incorporate 'tempo training'(moving to the beat of the music) into my group fitness classes, and you can expect some fun circuits with plenty of options.
Hi, I'm Kristen! I am a certified Pilates instructor and an undergraduate student, studying for my Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. As a person who loves to move, discovering Pilates was a perfect fit for me. So much so that I became an instructor. Seeing students gain strength, confidence and better mind and body awareness is important to me.
I believe in encouraging everyone to push their comfort zone while also ensuring that the movement being performed is safe and healthy for their body. Classes will always have alternatives provided (and encouraged) for any reason necessary and precise cueing will be a part of every class.
Lauren has been a certified Group Fitness Leader through Fitness New Brunswick since 1996. Teaching fitness classes and training new leaders is truly her passion. She loves building relationships with class participants and helping them achieve their fitness goals.
Over the years Lauren has taught, mentored and evaluated instructors at UNB in a variety of disciplines; choreography being her favourite. Her love for group fitness grows stronger every day.
My love for Latin rhythms began in a UNB dance class. Years later, when finding the right activity was difficult because of an injury, I remembered how good it felt to dance to Latin music in that class. So, I tried Zumba for fun and for fitness, and everything changed for the better.
Becoming a licensed Zumba instructor has been a great fit with my 25+ years as a health promoter and helping others find their own way of being well. I hope that everyone who joins a class has fun moving to the music together and experiences the benefits of Zumba on and off the dance floor like I, and many others, have.
I have been active in the fitness industry for over 28 years. In that time, I have shared my passion for fitness through my sense of humour and solid knowledge of the fitness and aqua fitness world.
I've been teaching for two years. I started attending spin classes as an undergraduate student and loved the group atmosphere. I soon became involved in teaching, hoping to deliver that same fun experience.
My goal is to make classes enjoyable and not feel like a chore. I believe that classes should be accessible to everyone of all levels of fitness, whether you are just starting out or a regular class participant.
I joined REDS Rec in September 2011 as a part-time group fitness leader teaching 3 group fitness classes. Having been in the industry for over 15 years, I am passionate about fitness and wellness. I believe fitness training positively influences the health and wellness of everyone.
I strive to incorporate lots of N-R-G and the best music into every class! I like to make exercise enjoyable and look for ways to bring a bit of fun and humour into my classes. In fact, you may just find me wearing a costume on those special holidays.
For years I avoided exercise. Exercise felt like work, an obligation, something unpleasant to be avoided. In 2016 I attended my first Zumba® class and fell in love. Dancing makes me feel confident and free in a way nothing else does. I became licensed to teach Zumba® in 2017 and have been sharing the fun and joy of movement with others ever since.
I’m committed to making fitness what I believe it was always meant to be:
I look to promote health at every size (HAES), joyful movement and inclusion, recognizing that I come from a position of privilege. My personal philosophy is “There are no mistakes in Zumba®, only unexpected solos."
I began teaching fitness classes in 1993 and started fitness coaching in 1999. I love to stay active. Some of my favourite activities include kettle bell training, biking, hiking and yoga!
I’ve always wanted to change the way people thought about fitness. It should be fun, with no gimmicks or hype health talk; instead, fitness professionals should offer an educational, diverse and challenging experience.
My philosophy is: ‘Move a muscle - change your mind.’ When the body is healthy, so follows the mind.
