32nd Annual UNB Business Awards Dinner

The Annual Business Awards Dinner is our biggest and most prestigious event of the year when we celebrate our student scholars and accomplished alumni, and recognize the support of our donors and friends. This year we celebrated our 32nd Annual Business Awards Dinner on Thursday, November 21, and were proud to recognize the following alumni with Certificates of Achievement.

2019 Certificate of Achievement

Anne-Marie (née Van de Brand) Gammon, MBA, FCPA, FCMA, (BBA ’83)

President and CEO of CPA Atlantic School of Business

Born and raised in Penobsquis, N.B., Anne-Marie Gammon, MBA, FCPA, FCMA is the inaugural President & Chief Executive Officer of CPA Atlantic School of Business. Bringing over 25 years of senior financial management experience within diverse industries including education, real estate, automotive, aerospace and oil, Anne-Marie is also the past Director, Operations, Education Services with the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada, Vice President, Program Development for the Certified Management Accountants of Canada and was previously Vice-President, Financial Reporting for ING Real Estate Canada.

An experienced educator with over 20 years of experience delivering the CMA Professional Program, Anne-Marie served on the national CPA Certification Steering Committee established to develop the new pre-certification program to support the unification of the accounting profession in Canada. She has continued to work on various national committees to advance the certification program leading to the chartered professional accountant designation.

Actively involved in her community as a volunteer, Anne-Marie is the past President of Financial Executives International Canada - Atlantic Chapter. She is also past President of CMA Nova Scotia, past Chair of the CMA Canada Research Foundation and past Vice President, At Large with the Canadian Academic Accounting Association.

A chartered professional accountant, Anne-Marie has a BBA from the University of New Brunswick and subsequently received her CMA designation in New Brunswick in 1990. A strong believer in life-long learning, Anne-Marie received her Master of Business Administration from Edinburgh Business School, UK in 2012 and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration there. She was nationally recognized with the prestigious Fellow of the Society of Management Accountants’ designation in 2003 followed by the award of Fellow of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Nova Scotia in 2015.

Anne-Marie resides in Bedford, NS with her husband, Blake.

Michael Tsamaz (BBA ’84)

Chairman and CEO of the Hellenic Telecommunications Organization S.A. (OTE).

Michael Tsamaz has headed OTE Group (HTO:GA), the largest technology company in Greece and subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom AG, since November 2010; OTE Group generates Revenues of €3.8 billion, EDITDA of €1.3 billion (2018 FY) and employs over 12,000 people.

Under his leadership, with sustainability as a key driver, OTE Group managed to streamline its financials, amidst a 10 year period of unprecedented economic crisis; create new revenue streams; and transform into a modern, customer centric, tech enterprise, with COSMOTE as the unified brand for its fixed, mobile, internet and pay TV products and services. Its healthy financials allow OTE Group to implement a comprehensive, long term investment plan in fiber optic networks, mobile NGNs, Pay TV and ICT services, advancing Greece’s technology infrastructure and contributing to the sustainable growth of the economy, the society and the environment.

Since 2001, Michael has held several senior roles within OTE, overseeing the course of its international investments, where he reformed operations, and served as CEO and as a Board of Directors member for a number of OTE and COSMOTE international subsidiaries. He also served as a Board of Director member of EE, UK. Before joining OTE Group, he held high ranking positions in marketing, sales and general management for multinational companies such as Warner Lambert, Vodafone and Philip Morris International.

Michael is a strong advocate of technology as the means to sustainable growth. In 2016, he set a new vision for OTE Group to become a digital transformation paradigm in Greece, as well as in Europe. From his position as head of the Digital Economy Committee of the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV) and member of the Athens Digital Council, he focuses on policy making proposals in order to bridge the digital gap nationwide, while creating awareness for the merits of the new digital era through education.

During his tenure at OTE, he demonstrated his personal commitment to sustainability, integrating its principles across all of OTE Group's operations. As a result, OTE Group has been, for years, one of the leading companies in the field of sustainable development, contributing to the economy, society and the environment. Its social contribution, during the past 10 years has exceeded the amount of €26 million, benefiting more than 1 million people, every year. Its most important initiatives, amongst others, include scholarships to more than 500 undergraduate students facing social and economic difficulties, financial and material support to 55 NGOs that help children in need and training in new technologies for 11,000 senior citizens. As recycling is one of the basic pillars of its environmental strategy, the OTE Group has managed to recycle and reuse approximately 75% of its total waste, thus limiting drastically its environmental impact.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of New Brunswick, Canada and he is the father of Kosmas 15 and Stella 17 years of age.
