Summer school

UNB LEAPS (Learning Experience Abroad Program in Summer)

Study abroad with students from all over the world for up to four weeks this summer at one of our partners' summer school programs. Deadlines and programs vary in dates and duration.

Participate in seminars, lectures, workshops and field trips which directly relate to your field of study. Professional academics and practitioners will be on-hand to provide expert guidance and a positive learning environment.

Benefits of summer programs

Great opportunity for first-time travelers/students with work/family obligations

  • An International summer school is an excellent first experience abroad and perfect for students who are interested in going abroad but have never travelled alone.
  • 1 to 4 weeks abroad is enough time to experience life outside of Canada without being away too long and easier to fit with your current family and work obligations.

Easy planning

  • Residence & meal plans are usually pre-organized, so your planning is very easy and hassle-free.
  • The host institutions organize social programs, so you make friends fast and don’t miss out on visiting local attractions.

Courses available for students in all disciplines

  • Our partners offer many different courses, so there is an opportunity for you regardless of your program of study.
  • You will find many courses that UNB is not offering, so this is your chance to select courses that you are passionate about but can’t take at UNB.
  • Go to the same location with your UNB friends in other programs
  • Courses abroad can be counted towards your UNB degree with pre-approval from your academic advisor. Courses abroad will not affect your GPA.
  • The summer school programs can provide you with 1 -2 UNB courses.

Help every step along the way

  • We are here to support you before you leave. We offer a mandatory pre-departure workshop and other forms of help to make sure you are prepared for your international experience and have a smooth and successful abroad experience.

Financial assistance

All UNB students are eligible to apply for the student abroad bursary.

Bursary application will be provided to students after being accepted into a Student Abroad program.
