Spring Orientation, Advising and Registration (SOAR)

We are excited to welcome you to UNB's Spring Orientation Advising and Registration (SOAR) day taking place Saturday, May 11, 2024.

Science does SOAR differently

Since Covid, Science has found a more inclusive, consistent, and efficient way for our students to receive advising and support when registering for courses for the upcoming year. Since Science has adopted the new practice we will no longer be registering or advising students during SOAR.

If you are in need of course registration for the upcoming year and missed one of our registrations weeks that took place during March thru April no problem. Please email Angela Regier at sciadvising@unb.ca with your student number, full name, and area of science you are interested in.

Our Registration Weeks were broken into these areas of science:
Week 1 - Biology, Biology-Psychology, Psychology
Week 2 - Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Biology-Chemistry
Week 3 - Math, Statistics, Economics, and Undecided Students
Week 4 - Earth Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Geosciences, Physics
Week 4 - Concurrent programs (BAS, BA/BSC, BCS/SC)

What our SOAR will be

Science feels SOAR is one of the best ways to get your university career off to a good start and gain valuable information for your first-year experience. We are excited to utilize this time with you to discussion opportunities in Science.

Schedule

• Resources/Engagement - Upper Year Students will discuss opportunities in Science and ways to get involved.
• Research Highlights Segment - some of our researchers in each department will discuss their exciting research and you will have an opportunity to speak with them about it
• Science Library Mix & Mingle - Meet some of our researchers/faculty, peer mentors, and resource staff within the Faculty of Science.
• Faculty Tour - see some unique labs and areas within Science
• Ask your Peer Mentor - Q & A time to discuss question you have about first year in Science

For Parents - Our faculty session will discuss:

• The transition from high school to the Faculty of Science
• University policies
• Supports and resources
• Question and answer segment
• Sign up for Science's parent newsletter
