Science Orientation, Advising and Registration (SOAR)

We would like to start off by welcoming you to UNB and our Science Community. Enjoy a few words from our Dean, Dr. Gary Saunders that was recorded in 2020.


We hope you had an opportunity to start your journey at UNB Fredericton with our Spring Orientation, Advising and Registration (SOAR) day and had a chance to interact with us! 

SOAR is one of the best ways to get your university career off to a good start and gain valuable information for your first-year experience! It is also the first step towards your advising and course registration with the Faculty of Science.

Spring SOAR took place virtually on May 29th.  There were a variety of sessions offered to ensure you have the tools, resources, and information required to successfully complete course registration and prepare for fall classes. Did you miss SOAR and the first step towards course registration? No problem, to gain assess to the recordings go to SOAR 2021. To access our Faculty session recording please go SCIENCE.


In order to complete your registration for Fall and Winter term it is extremely important to register for one of our Registration weeks in your areas of interest.

Science Virtual Registration Sessions

Each virtual Registration week will provide:

  • A general overview
  • A question and answer segment
  • Academic advising
  • Course schedules/templates
  • An opportunity to request individual one-on-one advising
  • A recorded video of the session and registration booklet
  • Follow up to ensure appropriate registration

Week One - June 1st

Concerned you can not attend the appropriate virtual session due to time zone, poor internet connection issues, etc. Please do not panic! Contact Angela Regier at to discuss your best alternative to get registered with Science.

FALL 2021 Class Delivery

Science Fall 2021 is confirmed to be a blended mode of delivery (with some in-person and on-line components).  Students should expect for all courses to have some requirements of in-person delivery and plan to be on campus.

Dean of Science forum

A future date will be released for our Dean of Science parents' forum. This forum will discuss:

  • The transition from high school to the Faculty of Science
  • University policies
  • Supports and resources
  • Question and answer segment
  • Sign up for Science's parent newsletter

Science Peer Mentors Sessions

The Science Peer Mentors will deliver two sessions during the month of June offering insights into being successful in first year. Get tips on how to prepare for blended learning, what you can expect, how to find your place at UNB, and get answers to all your questions. We encourage you all to participate in one of these sessions to start building connections with other first years and your Peer Mentors. They are very excited to assist you along the way.
