Certificate programs

A certificate, made up of several courses relating to a common theme, can be taken as a stand-alone program or in some cases, coordinated with your bachelor program.

Certificate programs

In UNB’s Economics certificate program, you’ll learn to use analytical, mathematical and statistical techniques to answer questions and solve problems. You’ll examine the roles individuals, consumers, small businesses, managers, CEOs and politicians play in shaping both the Canadian and global economies. This certificate is a stand-alone program intended for visiting international students and for members of the community interested in economics.

The Certificate of Proficiency in French Communication and Culture will help you deepen your mastery of French. You’ll strengthen your writing, speaking and translation skills and study the poetry, prose and films of writers and directors from nearby Acadie and from around the world. Students who complete the certificate program can move on to the Diplôme de Bilinguisme (Certificate Level Two).

Our Certificate in Gender Studies focuses on concepts such as feminism, masculinity, queer studies and transgender studies. Our program is multidisciplinary so you’ll explore complex gender issues from multiple fields of study and perspectives.

The Certificate in General Studies is open to all interested individuals, but it is intended for students attending university for the first time. A general studies certificate is a great stepping stone to a degree program.

The Certificate in Mathematics for Education is ideal for current and future school teachers who intend to teach mathematics, or who want to expand their knowledge in the field of mathematics. This certificate can be taken as a stand-alone program or in conjunction with a degree program, with the approval of the appropriate faculty.

The Certificate in Mental Health Studies can provide additional education to professionals working in mental health-related fields such as nursing, outreach/support workers, youth workers, correctional officers, social workers or counselors, who are interested in advancing their knowledge about mental health topics that relate to their work. This certificate will complement the education of professionals who have non-university and other university-level degree programs that did not offer as in-depth a psychological focus on mental health topics.
