About Skitqomiqewi Kcicihtuwinut, Dr. Charles Sacobie

Dr. Charles Sacobie, an assistant professor in the faculty of science on UNB’s Fredericton campus, is a member of the Wolastoqey Nation and Woodstock First Nation. He brings a unique perspective to his role, seamlessly blending expertise in Western scientific methodologies with a deep commitment to Indigenous wisdom.

His leadership has been instrumental in the development of an institutional-level Truth and Reconciliation Commission action plan, guiding the faculty of science towards enhanced Indigenous representation, community-focused research and the integration of Indigenous perspectives into STEM education.

Driven by a passion for bridging cultural divides, Dr. Sacobie envisions a future where Two-Eyed Seeing, as advocated by Mi'kmaq Elders Albert and Murdena Marshall, becomes a guiding principle for harmonious collaboration between Western and Indigenous knowledge systems.
