Giving to UNB

Harley E. Marr

In memoriam

Harley Edward Marr was a businessman and entrepreneur who cared deeply for the wellbeing of others. During his six-year battle with cancer, he never focused on himself but rather spent his time helping those he could.

Harley was an industrious dairy farmer who provided leadership in the dairy industry. He studied dairy cattle genetics for production and matched cattle to maximize the best producing livestock he could. He was an international exporter of cattle and embryos. After leaving the dairy industry, Harley worked with tax consultants who tracked tax laws and helped businesses find tax dollars they were owed.

Harley never wanted cancer to define his life, and was dedicated in his love for his family, his friends and his faith. The Harley’s Heroes Relay for Life team was formed in his name to raise awareness and funds for the Canadian Cancer Society. He was a board member of the Harvest House mission and participated in various leadership roles and ministries at The Journey Church.

Harley died on May 27, 2011, at The Moncton Hospital with his wife, Jennifer Marr, at his side. To mark the tenth anniversary of his passing and honour his memory, Harley’s family and friends established the Harley E. Marr Memorial Bursary. The bursary ensures Harley’s legacy of helping others continues by supporting a New Brunswick student beginning a bachelor of business administration on the Fredericton campus.

You may support the Harley E. Marr Memorial Scholarship by making an online donation, or by mailing a contribution to our offices in Saint John or Fredericton. Thank you for your generosity.
