Fredericton Downtown Community Health Centre

The University of New Brunswick’s Faculty of Nursing offers the unique opportunity for students to work in the Fredericton Downtown Community Health Centre in partnership with Horizon Health Network. Since 2002 the centre has served as a living laboratory for student education while providing essential care to thousands of vulnerable community members.

A unique understanding of the health care system

Experience hands-on training in a leading practice model that integrates health service delivery, education and research — unique in Canada serving at risk community populations.

The clinic is a leader in integrative services, and features a community access room with showers, laundry facilities and a full kitchen for client use.

By collaborating with a diverse team of health care professionals, including primary care providers, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, dietitians, psychologists and registered social workers you will gain a complex understanding of the health care system. We believe these opportunities fuel creative thinking and help you reach your full potential as a clinician and a leader in health care.

Research with real-world impact

Our centre focuses on vulnerable populations such as the economically disadvantage, homeless individuals, refugees and those without a family physician.

The centre provides a unique opportunity for our researchers to engage in impactful research aiming to enhance health care services and adress the needs of our communities.
