Ryan Reid
Program Officer
Ryan Reid is a passionate entrepreneur, venture creator, and transformative leader.
After co-founding a veterinary healthcare business, Ryan managed its operations over a ten-year period. As general manager, Ryan ran all aspects of the business, scaled the hospital’s rapid growth to $3M revenue, and built a team of 25 doctors and support staff. In 2021, he negotiated a highly successful sale of the business to an international private equity firm.
Previously, Ryan applied his entrepreneurial expertise to help bioscience entrepreneurs commercialize new technologies. This role included developing a virtual incubator program, connecting with venture capital firms, and delivering training workshops on bioscience commercialization.
Ryan was also on the founding team and served as the marketing manager for Virtual Expert Clinics, a company that created educational therapy support solutions for students with autism and developmental disorders. Prior to this venture, Ryan worked at SQRA Corporation, a startup that developed major league sports scoring software tools. While there, Ryan was part of a team that innovated, developed, and marketed a scoring system for the NHL that is still in use today.
Ryan holds an MBA from the University of New Brunswick, where he now works as an instructor, manager, and mentor in the International Business & Entrepreneurship Centre in the Faculty of Management. He also holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Entrepreneurial Management from Royal Roads University and has a B.A. in History from Queen’s University.
A creative problem solver and dedicated team builder, Ryan Reid enjoys giving back as a mentor at Energia Ventures Accelerator. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Harvest Music Festival and the New Brunswick Public Library Service. After moving from Toronto to Fredericton in 2006, Ryan acquired, restored and now resides in an historic 120-year-old home with his wife and three children.
Khai Phan
Program Coordinator
Khai Phan is a graduate from UNB MBA class of 2020, a program which he believes has provided students with a plethora of opportunities to thrive in a fast-moving Canadian business environment.
Khai has over five years of experience in project management and digital marketing. Having worked for a leading technology corporation in Vietnam, he developed a special interest in technology and innovation management and is making an effort to help business students become more exposed to technological advancements.
Khai holds an MBA from the University of New Brunswick, and a bachelor’s degree in International Business from the Foreign Trade University in Vietnam.
