On May 27, the country’s oldest school of engineering, established in 1854 at the University of New Brunswick (UNB), officially opened the doors to a new state-of-the-art, sustainable space for learning, collaboration and innovation. The 18,400-square-foot Commons, named in recognition of Dr. Allison D. McCain (BScEE’72, DSc’07).
In a course that brings together students from across disciplines, University of New Brunswick students spent the semester tackling real-world challenges, often referred to as "wicked problems", using systems thinking tools and methods in their Technology Management and Entrepreneurship course.
Masoud Haeri Nejad, a PhD graduate in Chemical Engineering from the University of New Brunswick, has become the first student from Atlantic Canada to win the prestigious Best Graduate Student Paper Award from the Canadian Society for Chemical Engineering.
UNB welcomed Professor John Ringwood, a global leader in marine renewable energy research and Professor of Electronic Engineering at Maynooth University, Ireland. His visit, which included a distinguished research seminar and participation in the UNB Engineering Design Symposium, marked a milestone in a growing connection between UNB and international leaders in wave energy innovation.
Alexa Pelletier’s journey through Chemical Engineering at UNB has been nothing short of inspiring. Growing up in Grand Falls, NB, she began her academic journey in 2019 and is now in her sixth and final year, completing a Minor in Mathematics alongside her major.
