Drama major

The English Department offers a drama option within the English major. The requirements for this program are that a student complete the normal English major requirements in terms of both historical coverage and course restrictions as explained under major in English, along with courses from relevant drama areas, as indicated below:

1. ENGL 1000, ENGL 2173, ENGL 2174 ENGL 2901 and 2902.
2. At least 30 ch in English literature courses at the advanced level, including ENGL 3170, at least 6 ch in literature in English written before 1660, at least 6 ch in literature in English, 1660 to 1900 and at least 12 ch courses in dramatic literature.

Normally, students must take ENGL 2173 and ENGL 2174 or have comparable experience before enrolling in ENGL 3170. Any student who is interested in this program should consult the appropriate co-director of majors and honours.
