Wesley Tibbet
Home Town: Saint John, NB
High School: Harbour View High School
Degree: Bachelor of Science (Engineering)
2nd yr with the Seawolves
Wesley was introduced to volleyball in middle school but he didn't make the team until the 8th grade. He had a three year lull until he took up the game again in grade 11 at Harbour View High School and even then, he only tried out because one of my teachers said they were looking for players.
One of the reasons was that he was simply so busy excelling at other sports, including badminton, football, rugby, rowing and track & field. He immediately showed his multi-sport talent by winning the volleyball MVP award both years as well as being selected as the Senior Athlete of the Year in 2010 and 2011. "I had a ton of fun playing for James and Mandy and I have them to thank for my love of the sport."
Wesley doesn't really have one favourite thing about volleyball. He finds enjoyment in learning something new and the satisfaction that comes from mastering it. Based on his sports history, don't be surprised at anything Wesley accomplishes over the next few years. He also enjoys the camaraderie that develops among teammates stating that: "you become more like brothers than friends by the end of the season".
This season, Wesley is looking forward to seeing the improvements the team has made from last season the upcoming one. "Once we're all here, I'm interested to see how the new dynamic will play out," he says. His personal goal is to earn a starting position on the team.
