Our History

"They came to New Brunswick - with little more than they could carry - to settle what was, even by their standards, a wilderness. And yet, within a few months, these 'loyal Adventurers' had petitioned the government to provide for the education of their children."
"so began, in 1785, the Provincial Academy of Arts and Science and the origins of the University of New Brunswick..."

           - A Pictorial History of the University of New Brunswick, by Susan Montague.

We have prepared a short historical sketch of the University of New Brunswick as well as a Visitors Scrapbook of some famous people as they appeared during their visits to UNB over the years. UNB has several buildings of historical interest as well as long list of distinguished Principals and Presidents who have served to make UNB what it is today.

Much more historical material may be obtained from the UNB Archives.
