Common questions

Refer to Applying to UNB on next steps after submitting your online application for admission.

UNB will accept a “CR” as meeting the minimum grade requirements for individual course prerequisites.

Students who have obtained a “ENR” in any of the prerequisite courses required for admission are advised to retake the course in order to receive a final grade. Final ENR grades cannot be used to meet admission requirements.

Where applicable, students may use a higher-level course (advanced, AP or IB) to meet minimum requirements (e.g. ENGL 121 may be used in place of ENGL 122; or Calculus 120 may be used in place of Precalculus A and B).

Admission requirements for Grade 12 New Brunswick applicants.

UNB will continue to accept AP courses for admission purposes and assess for academic transfer credit.

CollegeBoard is going to administer AP exams online this year. You can take your exams as long as you have access to an electronic device. CollegeBoard has also provided an option for you to write your responses by hand and submit a photo.

CollegeBoard is committed to supporting their students through to exam day with testing date options and free resources.

UNB will continue to accept IB courses for admission purposes and assess for academic transfer credit.

UNB will work with international schools and applicants to accommodate as best we can by accepting the results that were given out by their schools at the end of the 2020 school year in lieu of official final exam results for countries where exams were cancelled (e.g. IGCSE, IGCSE, WASSCE, GCE, etc.)

The International Admissions Office will also consider how students have done in the previous year in relevant courses. UNB will do our best to support a fair and equitable approach and ensure that the situation of each student is considered. Electronic transcripts/marks are being accepted in lieu of traditional copies of official records at this time.

UNB is now accepting the online Duolingo English Test and the CAEL online test to meet our proof of English Language Proficiency.

UNB has returned to regular in-person instruction with limited online courses available. If you are unable to obtain a study visa, please contact the admissions office to discuss a deferral. Please note, students should defer their admission if they are unable to arrive by the term start date.

See Undergraduate deferral form for UNB's undergraduate online deferred admission form.

English Language programs with Saint John College (Saint John campus) and the Program of Academic English (PAEP, Fredericton campus) are both offering limited options for alternative delivery (AD) learning, on a case-by-case basis. Students may be able to begin these programs at home.
