Annual membership fees

  • Individual UNB Retiree: $20 per year (each UNB retiree must join individually)
  • Family Membership: $35 per year (retiree and spouse)

There are four ways to pay: pension deduction, e-transfer, by cheque, or in cash at our meetings.

Personal Information

Please note: This membership renewal form is for those manual pay members who have not opted for automatic dues deduction. Such members should reapply every year using this renewal form. You can also use this form to switch from manual pay to automatic dues deduction.

If you have previously applied for dues deduction, then application renewal is not necessary. We will mail your membership card each year in July for the following year. If you are a dues deduction member and wish to update your contact information, please select Application Type "Member Information Update".

For a UNBREA member to be eligible for value pack benefits, the university requires you to certify that you are:

  • 55 years of age or older
  • A retired employee from the University of New Brunswick
  • In receipt of a pension for your service with the University of New Brunswick from the pension plan for Academic Employees and/or Public Service Shared Risk Plan (PSSRP) of the Province of New Brunswick

New and current members

You now have the option to have your dues deducted monthly from your pension. This automatic deduction avoids the cost of mailing and processing cheques and your annual renewal is automatic. Members selecting this option will have their membership cards automatically mailed in July for the following year. Our membership year runs September 1 to August 31. The current monthly fee for single members is $1.25 and for couples with one UNB retiree (family membership) the monthly fee is $2.00. Families with two UNB pensioners must each sign up individually and each would pay a fee of $1.25 per month. This monthly fee continues until cancelled by the member by contacting the UNB Human Resources Department. The fee amount may be adjusted at our AGM which is normally held in May.
New members who wish to sign up for the automatic deduction should complete and submit the application form above and then download the dues deduction form. Print and complete the dues deduction form and mail to us (mailing address above). When both forms have been processed, we will mail your membership card. Annual membership renewal will then be automatic and no further action is required in future years unless your personal information changes.
Existing members who wish to switch from manual payment to automatic deduction should download the dues deduction form. Print and complete the dues deduction form and mail to us (mailing address above). When the dues deduction form has been processed, we will mail your membership card. Annual membership renewal will then be automatic and no further action is required in future years unless your personal information changes.
We also accept payment by e-transfer. Send your e-transfer request to unbrea.etransfer@unb.ca. No security question is required as we have enabled auto-deposit.
Those new and existing members who do not opt for the automatic deduction may pay their dues by completing and submitting the electronic application form and mailing us a cheque annually. Make your cheque payable to UNBREA and send it to the address below. We will mail your membership card after we receive your cheque. With this payment method, membership renewal is not automatic. You must fill out a renewal application and send us a cheque every year.
Membership applications and renewals can also be done at any of our regular meetings and at our AGM. We accept automatic deduction forms or payment by cash and cheque at meetings. Payments at or after the AGM apply to the following year.
