Gloucester County

Gloucester County is located in the northeast corner of the province on the Bay of Chaleur commanding the approaches to the Restigouche River, and is known for its fishing communities on the Acadian Peninsula and the mining city of Bathurst.

During the eighteenth century the county saw much privateering action, especially during the American Revolutionary War. The region later developed a rich militia heritage and remains home to The North Shore (New Brunswick) Regiment.
