Undergraduate programs

Biology offers undergraduate Honours (by Thesis or Course), Majors and Minors programs, providing students with a broad foundation in biology. All programs begin with a two-year foundation including biochemistry, molecular and cell biology, genetics, evolution, ecology and diversity. Honours and majors students then specialize in the third and fourth years; eleven Concentrations are designed as a guide. Each Concentration recommends courses and electives from which students can select to best suit to their future goals.

Both Honours programs prepare students for graduate work and can be adapted to meet prerequisites for admission to professional schools. The Major program provides a focus in Biology and is designed for students with a wide range of career objectives. The Minor program provides students with the opportunity to explore Biology while pursuing another major program.

Co-op program

The Faculty of Science seeks to provide opportunities for students and employers to develop relationships that enhance the learning experience for students and present employers with skilled, motivated employees looking to make a career connection. To achieve this, the Faculty, through the Department of Biology and other Science departments and programs, operates a Co-operative Education Program. Co-op opportunities are available for qualified students; please refer to the Science section of the calendar for detailed information.
