Admission requirements

Focus on hands-on experience from the beginning

From your first year of study, our graduate program emphasizes practical learning through hands-on clinical experience. Over the four years, you’ll benefit from diverse clinical placements in settings such as hospitals, long term care facilities, mental health initiatives, young families care and community health initiatives.

Take advantage of:

  • 8:1 student-to-faculty ratio in most clinical courses
  • 12-week practicum 1:1 with an RN in the final semester of study
  • Hands-on experience in your first year
  • Innovative labs and simulation experiences
  • Peer support from the Nursing Society and Peer Mentors
  • Small class sizes

Review the Bachelor of Nursing admissions requirements before getting started.


You’ll need the following documents to complete your application:

  • Official transcript of grades from high school and/or any community college or university courses

  • Admission decisions are based on the applicant’s admission average or Grade Point Average (GPA) (60% weight) and the CASPer score (40% weight).

  • All applicants to UNB’s Nursing programs are required to complete the CASPer test, an online Situational Judgement Assessment, as part of the application process. Applicants who have taken the test in previous years will be required to re-take it if reapplying for admission.

Review of applications for the following academic year begins as early as Nov. 15 and there is a possibility of early admission of applicants.

We recommend that you submit your application before the end of January but completed applications and fees are accepted until Feb. 15.


After submitting your application, you will receive an automatic confirmation email including your UNB application number. Save that email for future reference.

Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Nursing program should budget for the following additional costs:

  • Travel to off-site clinical settings: Includes room and board, if required
  • Costs associated with clinical requirements: Such as specialized equipment, materials, and resources.
  • Uniforms, identification, shoes, lab kits and equipment: Essential for clinical placements.
  • Graduation costs in year four
  • National registration exam: Required upon completion of the program.

In addition to these unique costs, students are responsible for paying standard UNB undergraduate tuition and fees.
