Barrett Chair in Entrepreneurship for Digital Transformation

Dr. Ken Kent

The Barrett Chair in Entrepreneurship for Digital Transformation was created in 2022 through the generous support from New Brunswick business leaders and entrepreneurs, Edward (Ed) and William (Bill) Barrett.

The chair is based within UNB’s Faculty of Computer Science and aims to instill business and entrepreneurial insight in computer science students.

About the Chair | Ken Kent

Dr. Kent has been a professor within the faculty since 2002. He brings academic, industrial, and entrepreneurial experience to this chair position given his many industry collaborations and as a start-up co-founder. In 2020, he was recognized as the New Brunswick Innovation Foundation R3 Star Mentor of the Year.

Goals of the Chair

  • Curriculum development at the graduate level to support entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Entrepreneurship experience for students in the Master of Computer Science by Course (MCSC) program, so they can acquire entrepreneurship-specific knowledge and practical skills.
  • Build bridges and opportunities across UNB’s entrepreneur-focused entities and programs so CS students can have rich collaborative opportunities with students and mentors in across faculties.
