
Our Master of Arts (MA) program leads to a research-based degree.
It focuses on developing your knowledge of sociological perspectives and social research methods. The program is expected to be completed within two years, including the necessary coursework and a thesis. The courses cover required subjects of sociological theory, social scientific inquiry, social statistics and qualitative methods as well as an elective in your chosen area.
Pursuing a master’s in Sociology can help develop valuable transferable skills beyond your research, including problem solving, project management and effective communication.
Applicants to the Sociology MA program should hold a bachelor’s degree with honours or major in sociology (or equivalent), and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 / 4.3 (B+).
Students with an undergraduate degree in a different discipline may be considered for admission following completion of qualifying courses.
