Laurie joined Forestry and Environmental Management in 2015 and she is what keeps the Faculty office running smoothly and on track. She works directly with the Dean, Office of Research Services, Financial Services, and the Resources Planning and Budgets team to ensure ongoing fiscal management and budget preparation for the Faculty.

She is also responsible for arranging the Dean’s faculty council meetings, assessment committee meeting, and she is required to sit on some operational committee meetings as it relates to policy and governance. Laurie is also tasked with the position of “office manager” and oversees organization and management of the Dean’s office.

Laurie came to UNB after graduating from the Atlantic Business College from Office Administration in 1989. Her first position was as assistant to the Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Electrical Engineering Department. She then moved over to Chemical Engineering where she was the Assistant to the Directors of Graduate and Undergraduate Studies, Level One Computer Support, and Website Designer.

Her next move was to become the Administrative Coordinator for Chemical Engineering. In this role, she managed budgets, took on an HR role with posting positions, performing interviews, preparing employment contract, arranged for PhD qualifying exams, complied accreditation reports as well as many other duties. This role certainly prepared her for managing the day to day workings of the Faculty of Forestry and Environmental Management office.

In her spare time, Laurie is an artist and enjoys painting. She is also an outdoor and fitness enthusiast, curler, and is very involved with her local 4H club.
