Pathway to a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition

A collaborative approach to health

The University of New Brunswick has partnered with St. Francis Xavier (StFX) University to provide a unique learning opportunity in an innovative program.

The Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition is ideal for students who are interested in how science can be applied in practical ways to promote human development through nutrition. Develop the tools you need to succeed in careers related to:

  • dietetics
  • health promotion
  • sport nutrition
  • food science
  • food management
  • food and health entrepreneurship
  • teaching (elementary and secondary school)
  • nutrition research

Complete your first two years of study at UNB Saint John and then apply to transfer to StFX at the end of your second year.

Students who meet the academic requirements for dietetics may apply to complete dietetic practicum programs, including the StFX Integrated Dietetic Internship program.

The StFX Human Nutrition program prepares students for teaching careers. Students may acquire “teachable subjects” and may apply for Bachelor of Education programs upon completion of the degree.

Program structure

The program is structured with a 2+2 approach:

  • The first two years of study are completed at UNB Saint John
  • The final two years are completed at St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.
