Team members for UNB Fredericton

Nancy O’Shea is the Director of the International Student Advisor’s Office and plays a key leadership role in supporting our students. She has more than 20 years of experience providing counseling and services to international students and takes an active mentorship and advocacy role for all our students.


Hillary Nguyen is the international student transition advisor creating a friendly and inclusive environment for students. Her goal is bringing individuals from different backgrounds together to support, interact with, learn from one another, and to provide cultural awareness to the UNB campus and the greater New Brunswick community.


Jason MacFarlane is an Immigration Advisor providing advice for our returning international students. He has extensive knowledge related to information for temporary residences and currently focuses on specific areas include study permit extensions, SIN, co-op work permits, post-graduation work permits. Jason is the first point of contact for students who are currently in Canada.


Veronica McGinn is an immigration advisor who recently joined the ISAO team from Global Learning and Engagement where she has been working in the International field at UNB since 1997. She holds the regulated international student immigration advisor designation and may advise prospective and current students, faculty and staff on issues pertaining to applying for their first study permit from outside Canada, post-graduation work permits, Co-op work permits, temporary resident visas, and the international mobility program for visiting researchers. Veronica is the first point of contact for UNB Fredericton students who are currently outside Canada.


Team members at UNB Saint John

Ase Kelly Berg works under Student Services as the international programs advisor on the Saint John campus. She has been working for UNB Saint John since 2003 in various capacities.

Currently, she manages the student abroad program which helps students experience the world with outgoing and incoming academic exchanges, internships and short-term summer programs. She provides both logistical and financial support to first-time travelers and experienced globetrotting students.

She is also the international student advisor and offer support in new and current international students. In addition to organizing and running orientation programs at the beginning of each term, Ase Is a regulated international student immigration advisor and can provide help with renewal of study permits, work permits and entry visas.
