Rugby (Women's)

The UNB Women’s Rugby team took home gold at the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACCA) Championship for the second consecutive season. The team beat the STU Tommies 24-0 in the conference finals to defend their title. The team had a remarkable season, finishing with a 9-0 record.

Five of UNB’s players were selected to the ACAA All-Conference league: Amy Andrews, Maria Muise, Taylor McAulay, Julija Rans and Taran Price. Second year player Taran Price was also named as the league Player of the Year.

League information

The ACAA is comprised of teams from New Brunswick and Nova Scotia: St. Thomas University, Mount Allison University, Dalhousie Agricultural College and King’s College.

Team information

Fall 2016 marked the team’s second year participating at the ACAA level and their twenty-third year as a team at UNB.

  • The Ironmaidens practices twice a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5 p.m.), with a weekly Captain's run-through and additional conditioning/skill sessions.
  • Games typically take place once a week.
  • The season typically runs from September to mid-November.

Additional training sessions and games may take place in the off-season. For example, the team will participate in an invitational tournament in Fredericton at the end of April.
