Register today to attend our 4th annual Data Visualization Competition at the University of New Brunswick's Wu Conference Centre on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2019.
The Data Visualization Competition will bring together teams of participants from across Canada to demonstrate the power of open data.
Teams will assess and analyze data related to one of the 17 goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and present to an audience to communicate a recommendation, story, or new idea. This allows for better decision-making and more varied solutions to problems that span a wide range of social, environmental, and economic topics.
Teams will be required to present the data they have analyzed to judges in a rapid “pitch” format in addition to creating an infographic poster for display during the event. It is an ideal setting for citizens to get engaged, to meet leaders in academia, government, and private organizations, and to explore the world of data science.
Each team will be required to present their data story to a panel of judges through data visualizations (charts, graphs, etc.) and a PowerPoint presentation. The presentations are limited to four minutes, which will be followed by a ten minute question and answer period.
The infographic posters will be displayed throughout the main floor in the Wu Conference Centre in Fredericton, New Brunswick. A winner will be selected by our panel of judges and announced at the competition. You will neither be presenting your infographic posters or required to be present while they are on display.
