Information for employers

Hire a UNB co-op student

Our students are ambitious, competent and eager to apply their knowledge in a professional work environment. They understand the importance of gaining valuable hands-on industry experience and are highly motivated to learn from leaders in their fields of study.

If you need additional help with projects, hope to vet prospective full-time employees, or simply wish to share your expertise and guidance with the next generation, hiring a UNB co-op student is the right choice.

Work terms

Our engineering and science co-op students are eligible to do 4-, 8-, 12- or 16-month work terms, depending on where they are in their studies.

These work terms start at the beginning of May, September or January.

Our job bank opens four months before the work term begins.

For example:

  • Early September ― January work term
  • Early January ― May work term
  • Early May ― September work term

There is no deadline for posting a job. However, more students are available to apply the earlier you post your co-op positions. Hiring can continue up until the start of the work term, and each 4-month work term must be a minimum of 12 weeks and a maximum of 16 weeks of full-time discipline-related employment.

We do not participate in the rank and match system.

How do I get started?

All UNB co-op programs use an online platform called experienceUNB to manage the day-to-day operations of the programs.

With experienceUNB you (employers) can create an account and sign-on to post job opportunities. This intuitive system allows you to accept and bundle applications or students can apply for your positions directly through your website.

However, our office will gladly handle everything. Simply send us your job posting and we will post it, collect applications, and forward them once the competition closes.

The co-op team can also arrange interviews (video/phone) or provide space on campus for in-person interviews. We are here to facilitate the entire process to make it a positive, mutually beneficial experience!

What are your responsibilities?

We conduct on-site visits to meet with students and supervisors. A mid-term and final evaluation need to be completed by the supervisor and reviewed with the student. experienceUNB helps to manage these visits and the distribution and collection of evaluations.

Employer information sessions

Employers are invited to host an information session on campus to meet our co-op students.

Wednesday evenings (6 - 7 p.m.) are designated for these events, however, we can certainly change the day to accommodate schedules.

These sessions are a great way to build your “brand” on campus!
