Co-op program

Classrooms, meet boardrooms

A co-op education program combines your academic studies with work experience in cooperative employer organizations. Co-op is paid hands-on education that extends the learning process beyond the classroom into the workplace with paid periods of career related work experience.

Getting started

  • You can participate in the co-op preparation workshops during your first term of studies at UNB.
  • Once you have completed all the requirements your GPA will be accessed for eligibility.
  • You can go out on a summer work term if you have completed less than 70 credit hours and have a minimum assessment GPA of 2.7.
  • Once you have completed more than 70 credit hours and in good academic standing you can follow your disciplines work term matrix.
  • You can work maximum of six, four-month co-op work terms as part of your degree.
  • Work terms are flexible to accommodate a variety of course sequences.
  • Summer months are designated work terms.

All students must return to full time studies after completing their last work term.

How does our co-op program work?

Co-op students are engaged in productive work rather than merely observing.

  • Student’s progress on the job is monitored by the co-op program
  • The co-operative student’s performance on the job is supervised and evaluated by the student’s employer and the co-op program.
