Atlantic Provinces Linguistic Association

Version française

The Atlantic Provinces Linguistic Association (APLA) was founded in 1977 to promote the study of languages and linguistics in Eastern Canada and was recognized in 1992 as a national organization by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. The Association hosts a conference every two years in the fall at a centre of higher education. Topics cover all areas of linguistics. In 2019 the conference took place at the University of New Brunswick, Fredericton campus. Due to the pandemic, the 2021 conference will now be held in 2022 at Saint Mary’s University, Halifax, Nova Scotia. The Université de Moncton, New Brunswick, will be the site for the 2024 meeting. The Association's journal Linguistica Atlantica is published annually.
