COVID-19 Update

March 21, 2020

The Government of New Brunswick declared a state of emergency on March 19, 2020. With over 700 people tested, New Brunswick now has eight confirmed cases and nine presumptive cases of COVID-19.

It is imperative we follow the direction of New Brunswick Public Health. We must do our part to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 by practicing social distancing and staying home. UNB has scaled down operations to only those essential to the delivery of courses by alternative methods and business continuity processes. All units are now working remotely, apart from the essential services that require access to the campuses. Unless deemed essential by a dean or director, all faculty, staff, and students are not permitted on UNB campuses.

As the situation evolves daily and sometimes hourly, we will reassess what is considered essential to the operation of the university. These will be our operating procedures until we receive further direction from the Government of New Brunswick. We are grateful to those who played a critical role in UNB’s preparedness for working remotely, maintaining the safety of our community and enabling us to carry on with our academic programs.

This has been a trying time for our community and we thank you for your efforts to date. We greatly appreciate your understanding and cooperation throughout this process.
