Examine selected works of key contemporary sociological theorists such as Parsons, Blumer, Goffman, Habermas, Althusser, Fanon, Foucault, Bourdieu, Lyotard, Baudrillard, Hall, Smith, Collins, and Fraser. Emphasis is on the relevance of their influential ideas for understanding the nature and dynamics of the contemporary social world. Learn both micro and macro approaches addressing the tension between agency and structure, two central pillars of sociological inquiry. Prerequisite: SOCI 3004. | ||
