Introduces students to the intertwined relationship between politics and economics in the world arena. Provides a historical and conceptual survey of the complex relationship between political authority and the production and distribution of global wealth. Emphasis is on the fundamentals of global political economy (GPE), theoretical perspectives, history and development, and issues such as economic development, globalization, regimes, global debt, hunger, the environment, and the future for leadership in the international system.
