Emphasizes the medieval inquisitions against heresy (twelfth to fifteenth centuries) and especially the phenomenon of European witch-hunting (fifteenth to seventeenth centuries). Explanations of the causes of the witch-hunt, its victims and eventual decline are highlighted.
