This course will explore pathophysiology mechanisms of altered health states. This course will provide the Nurse Practitioner student with theoretical perspectives on the mechanisms of altered functioning of human cells, organ systems, and the organism as a whole. Theoretical content will be presented in a manner that fosters synthesis of evidence by students and provides a strong conceptual foundation for the integration of health and physical assessment and diagnostic reasoning processes in relation to patient care. Differentiating pathophysiologic findings from the normal will be emphasized; relevant treatment modalities will be discussed and appraised critically.
