Curriculum Context

This course is designed to give students an understanding of how the Canadian Health System is organized, the various actors in the system, a look at comparative health systems and a dive into critical issues.

  • Understand the Canadian health system - federalism, the health care act
  • Understand the Canadian health system funding 
  • Understand the Canadian health system key players
  • Compare health systems
  • Engage systems thinking and understanding health systems 
  • Understand historical perspective and foundations 
  • Understand equity/ social determinants and strategies for change 
  • Identify and promote discussion on health system issues


Course Description

This course is designed to give students an understanding of how the Canadian Health System is organized, the various actors in the system, a look at comparative health systems and a dive into critical issues.



Qualifications

A PhD in an appropriate field, knowledge of computers, and excellent communication skills are required.

Experience using the Moodle platform would be an asset.
