Course Description

This introductory course acquaints students with some of the fundamentals of Modern Standard Chinese (Mandarin) and provides basic oral communication skills. Romanized transcription is used. Not open to students with any knowledge of Chinese.



Qualifications

  • Master's (or graduate studies) in Chinese (Modern Standard Chinese, Mandarin) language or in a relevant discipline (Chinese culture, pedagogy, linguistics, etc.). 
  • Native or near-native proficiency in language of instruction (Modern Standard Chinese (Mandarin) as required for the course) and English. Instruction will be in English.
  • Experience teaching undergraduate courses at a university level.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered.
