Curriculum Context

BIOL 1782 FR01B Human Physiology I and BIOL 2792 FR01B Human Physiology - Systems are two courses that are taught combined together. This consists of two lectures for BIOL 1782 and BIOL 2792 per week and four labs for BIOL 1782 per week.  The successful candidate will be teaching all sections of BIOL 1782 and BIOL 2792.

Course Description

BIOL 1782 - An introduction to the various systems that comprise the human body. Emphasis will be on integration of these systems for maintenance of homeostasis.

 

BIOL 2792 - This course will introduce students to the various systems that comprise the human body with emphasis on the integration of these systems for maintenance of homeostasis. The systems that will be covered in detail are the cardiovascular system, pulmonary system, renal system, endocrine system, gastro-intestinal system and the nervous system.



Qualifications

MSc and/or PhD in Biology or allied field, or equivalent experience. Experience teaching undergraduate lectures is an asset. Knowledge of human physiology and understanding the clinical relevance of human physiology as well as a basic understanding of exercise physiology is essential. Able to apply basic physiological concepts to practical applications and should also have some knowledge of basic human anatomy especially in relationship to human physiology.
