Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

April 1-3

This year's keynote presentations, workshops, and artwork will focus on the theme of building relationships of solidarity aimed at making our communities more equitable, diverse, and inclusive.

We acknowledge that the lands on which the University of New Brunswick is situated are the unceded and unsurrendered territories of the Wǝlastǝkewiyik/Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet), Mi’kmaq/Mi’kmaw and Peskotomuhkati (Passamaquoddy). These Indigenous Nations and their territories are governed by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship” which the Wǝlastǝkewiyik/Wolastoqiyik, Mi’kmaq/Mi’kmaw and Peskotomuhkati co-developed and signed with the British Crown in the 18th century. The treaties did not deal with the surrender of lands, waters or resources, and in fact recognized Wǝlastǝkewiyik/Wolastoqiyik, Mi’kmaq/Mi’kmaw and Peskotomuhkati title, and established rules for what was to be an ongoing relationship between the Nations.
