Julianne Gerbrandt

Julianne Gerbrandt is a PhD student in the Faculty of Education. Her doctoral work is situated at the intersection of mathematics education, French immersion and critical studies. She is particularly interested in exploring how language and culture influence the teaching, learning, and doing of mathematics in the classroom, and what this reveals about systems of power in society at large. Before joining the L2RIC team, Julianne was an elementary French immersion teacher in New Brunswick. She teaches courses in mathematics education and French second language education in the Faculty of Education.

Julianne Gerbrandt est étudiante au doctorat à la Faculté d'éducation. Ses intérêts académiques portent sur l'enseignement de mathématiques, l'immersion française, et la recherche critique. Elle s'intéresse à l'exploration de comment la langue et la culture influencent l'enseignement, l'apprentissage et l'exécution de mathématiques à l'école. Avant de commencer ses études de troisième cycle, Julianne était enseignante en immersion française à l'élémentaire au Nouveau-Brunswick. Elle enseigne des cours liés à l'enseignement de mathématiques et de l'enseignement de français langue seconde à l'élémentaire.
