Research interests

My main research interest is in quantum gravity – the search for a unified theory of gravitation and quantum mechanics. There are several approaches for formulating such theories. All involve questioning basic assumptions inherent in classical physics, such as a priori fixed notions of space and time, and their role in quantization. My work addresses black holes and cosmology, the two arenas where ideas about quantum gravity are often applied.

I have side interests in mathematical finance and scientific computing. I use computational methods in my research in classical and quantum gravity, and when I have the time, in playing with stochastic models of financial instruments.
