Dr. Jeffrey J. McNally, Associate Professor, joined the Faculty of Management (FOM, formerly the Faculty of Business Administration or FBA) in 2011 and is a member of the Human Resources Area. He previously served the FOM as an instructor of human resources from 2005-2007. He teaches courses in both the undergraduate (BBA) and graduate (MBA) programs in the FOM and currently supervises two doctoral students in UNB’s Interdisciplinary PhD program, School of Graduate Studies (SGS).
Jeff’s research interests revolve around examining the types of, investments in, and the outcomes of the relationships that people have with their work and/or learning organizations as social and economic exchange partners. He is especially interested in examining the outcomes of entrepreneurship education. From 2013 – 2019, Jeff was a project lead in a global study examining the outcomes of entrepreneurship and experiential education at the university level, called the Entrepreneurship Education Evaluation (EEE) project. EEE was fully funded by a $350,000 Insight Grant, from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), on which Jeff was the Co-Investigator. The project has already produced several top-tier journal articles in the entrepreneurship literature and, as the authors actively sort through the entire data set collected throughout the funding period, more papers are being planned and developed for publication purposes.
Jeff is a member of the Academy of Management, the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada, and the Canadian Council for Small Business and Entrepreneurship. He is an active ad hoc reviewer for such academic journals as Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, Journal of Applied Social Psychology, Personnel Review, Journal of Business Venturing, and the Journal of Small Business Management, among others. Jeff is also a member of the Editorial Board of Academy of Management Learning & Education, which is one of the management field’s highest-ranking education journals.
Along with his co-authors, Dr. Bruce Martin & Dr. Michael Kay, Jeff was the recipient of the 2019 Greif Research Impact Award, a major Entrepreneurship Division award at the Academy of Management, sponsored by USC Marshall, for their 2013 meta-analysis on the outcomes of entrepreneurship education. Further, he was awarded the university-level UNB Merit Award in 2017, the Faculty of Management’s Excellence in Research Award in 2016 and, also in 2016, the Emerald Citations of Excellence Award for the above-mentioned meta-analysis. Jeff was also awarded the FBA Excellence in Teaching Award in 2015 and the FBA Annual Research Award in 2013. As a doctoral student, Jeff was awarded the prestigious SSHRC Doctoral Fellowship in 2010-2011 and the Ontario Graduate Scholarship in both 2009 and 2010.
