Prior to teaching at UNB Saint John, Stephen Alexander held various senior management roles across a range of industries including shipbuilding, oil & gas, healthcare technology and building supplies retailing. About half of his time in each industry was spent in financial roles with the other half being focused on technology management. He has also acted as a consultant to small businesses providing advice in start-up or turn-around situations.

Stephen has a Bachelor of Science degree from St. Francis Xavier University and a Masters of Business Administration degree from the Ivey School of Business, Western University. He has also taken a number of professional development courses from several universities including University of Michigan, Harvard Business School, and Carleton University.

Active in the community, Stephen has been involved in a number of economic development organizations and working groups over the years including six years as a Board member and Chair of the Saint John Development Corporation.
