Mike Thorn is a fiction writer and film critic. He is the author of the novel Shelter for the Damned (JournalStone, 2021) and two short story collections: Darkest Hours (Unnerving, 2017; expanded ed., JournalStone, 2021) and Peel Back and See (JournalStone, 2021). His fiction has appeared in various anthologies, magazines, and podcasts, including Vastarien, NoSleep, Shattered & Splintered, and Tales to Terrify.

His scholarship has been published in The Weird: A Companion (Peter Lang, 2025), American Twilight: The Cinema of Tobe Hooper (University of Texas Press, 2021), Thinking Horror: A Journal of Horror Philosophy, and elsewhere.

He completed his SSHRC-funded PhD at the University of New Brunswick. His research interests include creative writing, Gothic literature, horror fiction, film studies, and nineteenth- and twentieth-century American literature.
