Call for Abstracts

Tuesday, February 17th, 2014.  Online abstract submission is now closed.  Late submissions may be accepted Tuesday and Wednesday at the discretion of the technical program chair.

Abstract guidelines 

Abstracts should summarize results and conclusions. They should contain no criticism, and must not include references, photographs, or diagrams. Also they should not contain new rock names, new stratigraphic or time units, nor new fossil names. New mineral names will be introduced only with prior approval by the International Mineralogical Association.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS

Submisson must be via the GAC Submission web interface as described below.  There is no limitation to the number of abstracts that an author may submit. Normally, however only one sole-authored abstract per author will be accepted. Abstracts must not exceed 400 words, excluding title, authors, and addresses. Diagrams or photographs cannot be accepted as part of an abstract. The deadline for abstract submission was midnight February 17, 2014.

A non-refundable $20 abstract submission fee is payable upon submission of your abstract.

Review and acceptance of abstracts will be based upon scientific merit, informative nature, amount of new information, broad interest and compliance with required format. Presenting authors will receive a confirmation of receipt following abstract submission and will be informed as to whether it has been accepted by early March, 2014.

There are three steps involved:

step 1 requires your personal information and program choices;
step 2 requests your abstract in plain text form;
step 3 is optional and allows you to upload a formatted abstract file if an text file is inadequate.

NOTE:   Any abstracts requiring extensive re-typing or which do not meet the above requirements may be either rejected or subject to a $50 processing fee.
