Social Media Coordinators


UNB's Marketing Office partners with faculties and units to create opportunities for students to gain valuable experience contributing to an organization’s social media presence while developing relationships, contacts and transferable skills.

Social Media Coordinators are responsible for promoting the hiring unit through official unit and university social media channels. He/she/they will curate and create engaging content to promote on official social media channels while contributing to the unit's overall social media strategy.


  • Create, curate, edit and publish engaging content (e.g. images, stories, news, events, etc.) to promote the faculty or unit on social media in accordance with strategic objectives established guidelines.
  • Participate in the development of a social media strategy for the faculty or unit
  • Manage online inquiries (e.g. Facebook messages)
  • Attend lectures and events to gather content as necessary

Requirements and assets

  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills are required
  • Recent professional or personal experience using major social media platforms is required (e.g. Facebook, Twitter and Instagram)
  • Ability to prioritize and make decisions
  • Tact and diplomacy are required
  • Experience speaking on behalf of an organization is an asset
  • Involvement in extra-curricular or leadership positions is an asset

Details and compensation

  • 2-5 hours/week
  • $500 stipend at end of semester
