Consider conceptual, technical, and formal issues in documentary film production. Both practical and participatory, this course emphasizes the importance of collaboration and ethics, whether working in community or telling personal stories. Students are guided through the entire process of producing a short documentary film: generating concepts, making connections, budgeting, pre-production, editing, marketing and submitting the film to festivals. Students work together, taking on a variety of responsibilities while supervised by the instructor. NOTE: Credit cannot be counted for both FILM 4070 and MAAC 4070.
