|---|---|---|
Introduces the cellular and molecular bases of nervous system function in animals. We will learn what distinguishes neurons from other cell types, survey how neurons communicate with each other, and examine how they are organized into functional circuits. We will apply these basic principles towards understanding the specific mechanisms underlying the function of sensory systems and their behavioural outputs. Examples from the primary literature will be considered. NOTE: BIOL 3033 recommended. | ||
