Data Description

Immigration New Brunswick (formerly BizNet) was started by Business New Brunswick in 1999 as a tool to contain client lists in one database. In 2004, it was adapted for use by the Population Growth Division of the Government of New Brunswick’s Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour. The Immigration New Brunswick database represents every Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) application entered by operations.

Each individual who applies for the Provincial Nominee Program is considered a primary applicant, and his or her application information is contained in the Immigration New Brunswick database. The status of the application is tracked through the application date, certificate issue nomination) date, and landing date. The application date is when the PNP application is submitted. The certificate issue date is when the primary applicant is nominated for the program. The landing date is when the primary applicant lands in New Brunswick and attains permanent resident status.

Information about the dependants (family members) of the primary applicants are included in the database as well. However, this information is more limited because the dependants did not complete the PNP application and therefore do not have application data. The HOUSEHOLD_ID variable indicates which household an individual is part of and will show the same value for all members of the same family/household. The DEPENDANT_TYPE_ID variable indicates the relation of the individual to the corresponding primary applicant (or whether the individual is a primary applicant). The Immigration New Brunswick database at NB-IRDT contains a “Client and Application Data” table and a “Language Test Results” table. The “Client and Application Data” table contains information about individuals clients) and their corresponding application information, as applicable. This table contains one record per individual. The “Language Test Results” table has language test results for individuals who completed a language test. The language tests include the Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP), International English Language Testing System (IELTS), and Test d’Évaluation de Français / French Proficiency Exam (TEF). This table contains one record per language test result. The two tables can be linked together through the individual ID.
