Understanding Social Worker Recruitment and Retention in NB Summary: New Brunswick has more registered social workers than a decade ago, yet fewer may be working on the front lines, and more are stepping away from active practice. This study links registry, graduation, and Medicare data to show how recruitment and retention patterns have shifted — and where pressures in the workforce are emerging.
New results from DataNB’s ongoing Graduate Retention in New Brunswick series show that 4,350 graduates from the province’s publicly funded universities completed their studies in 2023, and about 70% were still living in the province one year later. Explore how retention varies by previous residence, field of study, and institution.
Experiential learning (EL) is expanding across New Brunswick, but does it relate to whether graduates stay in the province? By linking EL program data with university records, this study uncovers notable differences in participation across institutions and fields—and reveals that EL is linked to higher retention, particularly for students from outside NB.
Part 2 of the Pharmacist Care Clinic evaluation shows that nearly 2,600 people received care through the pilot — many without a family doctor. Satisfaction was high, and use of virtual care services declined. Explore how pharmacist-led clinics supported chronic disease management and expanded access to care in New Brunswick.
New arrivals to New Brunswick reached their highest levels in nearly two decades — and one‑year retention climbed to a 13‑year high. Explore how immigration streams, source countries, and regions across the province compare in this latest update covering cohorts from 2005 to 2023.
