Virtual Private Network (VPN)

All UNB Sites

On Tuesday, April 28 from 9 – 11 p.m. (2 hours), UNB is upgrading its Virtual Private Network (VPN) to a newer, more secure version. At the same time, the version used now will no longer work.

What this means to you

  • During the upgrade, you’ll be unable to connect to the VPN (current or new) or access UNB IT services that require the VPN from on or off campus.
  • Once the upgrade is complete, you’ll need to use the new FortiClient version to continue to connect to the VPN.
  • The old version of the VPN will no longer work as of April 28 at 9 p.m.

UNB-owned computers (Mac & Windows)

  • Starting April 28 at 9 p.m., the new VPN will be automatically pushed out to your computer with no setup required by you. It will automatically replace the old VPN on your device.
  • You may see brief pop-ups and a FortiClient notification when the installation finishes.
  • Windows computers only: please restart your computer to complete the update.

Personal Computers (Mac & Windows)

  • Starting April 28, instructions on how to set up the new VPN on your personal computer will be available on the IT Services VPN page

Mobile Devices

If you need help or experience issues connecting to the new VPN once the upgrade is complete, please contact us:
