Immigration Advising

The International Student Advisors Office at UNB offers a wide range of immigration-oriented services and advice for students on campus. ISAO Immigration Advisor Jason MacFarlane holds the RISIA (Regulated International Student Immigration Advisor) designation and may advise prospective and current students, faculty and staff on issues pertaining to:


  • Study Permits
  • Temporary Resident Visas
  • Student Work Permits (co-op and post-graduation)
  • Spousal and Dependent Study and Work Permits
  • Working in Canada
  • Ways in which Study Permit holders can access currently available Canadian Immigration programs
Convenient Immigration Drop-in sessions are held weekly in the Harriet Irving Library during the academic year (September to April). Also, ISAO holds a number of workshops throughout the year to better inform and educate international students at UNB on their rights, responsibilities and maintenance of legal status in Canada.
